the chances for spectacular scenery seems unlimited,

The
Homer Spit is a 3 mile-long gravel bar which extends out into Kachemak Bay
from the city of Homer.A highway extends to the very end of the spit. There
are many shops, and charter boat operations along the shoreline. The boat
harbor is headquarters for many commercial fishing boats as well as charter
boats. This is one of the most unique and scenic places you will ever drive
to. Homer is known as the "Halibut Capital of the World." Scenic
and wildlife cruises provide spectacular sights and incredible bird and
marine mammal watching. Sea otters and whales can often be seen, especialy
when a scenic cruise is taken.
The
Seward Highway follows the shoreline of Turnagain Arm for about 50 miles.
This body of saltwater is open to Cook Inlet, which opens into the Gulf
of Alaska. The tidal fluctuation in Turnagain Arm can be as much as 40 feet
in a 6 hour period. This creates incredible currents, and sometimes bore
tides(a wall of water which moves up the Arm with a roar).
